What is it?
The Ways to Work Loan Program offers small loans to low-income families who do not qualify for conventional credit at affordable rates of interest. These loans are designed to help you keep your job and/or complete your schooling. By repaying the loan in a timely fashion, you can establish a sound credit history and be able to access conventional lines of credit in the future. Loans can be used for:
  • Purchasing a vehicle or making needed repairs
  • Paying your security deposit, rent, or mortgage payment
  • Housing repairs
  • Childcare expenses
  • Purchasing needed equipment, computers, appliances, tools, etc.
  • Business purposes
  • What do I get?
    Loans range from $500 to $4,000; the interest rate is less than 8%. Through this program you can also participate in monthly financial fitness series on topics such as Defensive Driving, How to Purchase a Good Used Car, Youth Employment and Savings, Home Buyer Clubs and Credit When Credit Is Due.

    How long do I get it?
    The vendor will receive one payment for the total amount of the loan.

  • You will have to pay back this loan each month for up to two years.
  • You will need to attend an orientation before you can submit a loan application.
